| Susan Boyle (another Susan B!)-Proof That It's Never Too Late to Dream Your Dream |

If you haven’t seen this YouTube clip from Britain’s Got Talent, you have to now: click here to view . A friend emailed it to me yesterday, and I watched it over and over - it made me cry more, every time. Susan Boyle represents everything that I try to get others to believe in. A 47-year-old woman from a small village in Scotland, she dreamed of a career as a singer since she was 12 years old. I’ve read more about her since I saw her video, and apparently, because of the way that she was treated by others in her life (as demonstrated by Simon’s expressions on-screen), she’d essentially given up, and had even stopped singing in her church choir. She lived alone, with her cat, her immense gift and message of hope hidden from the world, until finally something inside her made her take the big leap: the dream that she dreamed, that never died. It is never too late. Since I was a little girl, I dreamed about being a dancer. I gave up on that dream when I was around ten years old, when the “grown-ups” convinced me that it was far more practical, and applaudable, to achieve academic success. I started my flamenco dance career at the age of 31, and it took me fantastic places – including other countries – that I had never imagined possible. When I was dancing in Cabo, I met another flamenco dancer there, dancing professionally with another company. She’d started dancing in her early forties. I know an engineer who, when he retired, decided to take a course in painting, as it was something he’d always dreamed of learning. He turned out to be so talented that he’s had multiple gallery shows, and his paintings sell for thousands of dollars. How’s that for a retirement plan? Many of society's most influential writers had their careers take off after their 40’s, or 50’s. That’s not a coincidence. If you’ve got a dream burning inside of you, it doesn’t matter how silly it may seem, or how impractical. It doesn’t matter if you don’t know anyone else your age who is doing it (doing it at a different age than the norm, or under unusually discouraging circumstances, may in fact make you famous! Look at Susan Boyle’s story). Not that fame is the goal – but in Susan Boyle’s case, I can’t imagine another outcome more thrilling. She deserves it, and the world deserves to witness and celebrate her success. During these times, more than ever, we need to be reminded that it’s what inside, what’s beautiful, what’s glorious and pure, that counts most. Now get out of your house and take a step towards that dream! About Dr. Biali Audiences and clients have described Dr. Susan Biali, an award-winning medical doctor, media wellness expert, author, speaker, life coach and flamenco dancer, as “passionate", "real", and "powerful”.
