Another friend from the National Speaker’s Association, Mike Osorio, said something really cool in his latest e-edition of “Jam(Just A Minute) with Mike”, the other day. He mentioned this quote from John Wooden, the legendary wise and inspirational basketball coach: "Learn as if you were going to live forever. Live as if you were going to die tomorrow." Isn’t that great? Virtually all of the inspirational and motivational greats that I listen to insist on the importance of continually growing, particularly in areas that are relevant to your dreams for your life. Business philosopher Jim Rohn always says: “Work harder on yourself than you do on your job”. Do you? Here’s what Mike had to say about Wooden’s quote on learning and living: “This quote captures the essence of a meaningful life. Too often, we miss opportunities to learn new skills, ideas, philosophies, ways of improving our lives and the lives of those around us. And, we miss out on chances to take risks, meet new people, experience art, theater, music, etc. Our lives are so hectic we find and sometimes create excuses as to why we can't take the time to learn, why we can't take the time to live.” What does your life look like? Have you been growing? Do you have a vision for who you’d like to be one day? Are you learning the knowledge and skills that will take you in that direction? Are you becoming the person you dream of being one day? Are you living your life 100%? Or do you just try to survive each day, until the weekend finally arrives? Or worse, do you push through months, counting down the days to that one week vacation? Learning (and therefore growing) is the fastest way to get yourself on the fast-track to your dream self and life. Living each day, and enjoying and appreciating where you are in life, right now, is the fastest track to happiness. Have a great day!
