| Networking Magic: How to "Ask" Your Way into Your Dreams |

I recently wrote a blog post about the most effective networking and marketing secret I've ever heard of: generosity. Giving to others, and helping them reach their goals and dreams (instead of focusing on what they could do to help you), is the surest way to huge life and business success. What goes around really does come around, not to mention how wonderful it feels to know that you make a difference in the lives of others. My business coach and master strategist, Jill Lublin, wrote the book on creating meaningful, prosperous connections in all areas of your life (see her bestselling book "Networking Magic"). Just today, I read her latest blog post, which has another essential and brilliant element that I'd never considered: to convert your dreams into reality, you first need to be clear about what you want, and then be prepared to ask for it. Here's Jill's point of view on this: "First, prepare by clearly identifying your purpose – what you want and need. Clarity of purpose opens the door to possibility. People know who you are and what you want with absolute certainty," she writes in her April 24 blog post on "Networking Encouragement". Her words resonate with what I always say about owning who you really are and not being afraid to truly be yourself, wherever you go, no matter what you think people might think or say about you. When you're really you, no holds barred, you will begin to encounter and attract the kind of people and help that you need to move forward (and not necessarily because of some magnetic law of the "universe"). More simply, once you start being the real "you", and people know what you're really about and what your dreams are, you're helping others to know how they can help you. However, though it's a great first step, in many cases just being the real you isn't quite enough - you won't really get what you need until you stop being afraid to ask for it. When it comes to asking for what you want or need, Jill's advice is: "Aim high in your networking strategies. You always risk getting less than you want if you stop short of your ultimate dreams. Make your request known by getting out there and playing big." Playing big means dreaming big and then taking that next necessary step, out in the real world. And networking isn't just about business contacts - we're talking about everyone you come across in your daily life. In other words, don't be afraid to tell others about your dreams, or to ask for help, or referrals, or advice with respect to your dreams. You never know when someone - be it a new friend, a member of your business network, or someone next to you on the plane - could be the key to the next step up the staircase to your big dream! Jill's work and advice are always brilliant - she's one of the top PR experts in the United States. Her blog, "Get Noticed and be Influential with Jill Lublin" is at www.getnoticedblog.com - you can find her complete post on "Networking Encouragement" there. As always, I'd love to hear any comments, or stories about times in which your asking for something you needed created miracles...or, why you might be afraid to be who you really are or ask for what you dream of. | Quote this article on your site | Views: 566
